Police did not find any signs early Thursday morning, Feb. 25, 2021, of shots being fired. 8:56 am, Feb. 25, 2021 × Multiple people called police early Thursday morning to report hearing gunshots in Northwest Rochester, but police found no signs shots had been fired. Police were called around 3:25 a.m. Thursday to the area of Eighth Street and Fifth Avenue Northwest for a report of gunshots in the area, according to Capt. Casey Moilanen. One caller told police that they heard gunshots and then saw a person wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants running south through an alley. Officers "spent a considerable amount of time" looking for evidence of a shooting, such as property damage or shell casings, but did not find any, Moilanen said. Police also did not locate any victims.
