Police charge man after April shooting, kidnapping, police chase

The man who allegedly shot a mother, kidnapped her daughter and shot at police during a pursuit last month before shooting himself has been charged.
Joshua Dwayne Taylor, 23, of Wetumpka, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon on charges of attempted murder, first-degree kidnapping and second-degree assault.
Montgomery police Capt. Saba Coleman said the ordeal began about 4:30 a.m. April 5 at a residence in the 2000 block of Rexford Road.
Taylor, according to his arrest affidavit, unlawfully entered the home looking for the daughter of the woman who would become a gunshot victim.
"While inside the residence the defendant caused serious physical injury to the victim by shooting her in the right thigh/knee area," an officer wrote in Taylor's court records. "The defendant then forcibly took the victim's daughter out of the residence against her will and fled the scene."
