Cuckooing is defined as a method of home invasion to facilitate the abuse and exploitation of occupants. A common example of this is drug dealers using the property as a base to deal, store or take drugs. The victims are usually vulnerable or isolated, making them more susceptible to being groomed and can be of all ages and genders. The operation, called Operation Jackal, will run in conjunction with several partners across Preston, including housing associations, mental health, social services and local charities. Cuckooing signs to look out for include: Is there an increase in cars or bikes to the property at all hours of the day or night?
