Police working through backlog of arrest warrants Hillsdale Daily News HILLSDALE — Police throughout the county are working to clear a warrant backlog caused by a temporary pause in accepting new inmates at the Hillsdale County Jail late last year caused by an outbreak of COVID-19 at the facility. Undersheriff Nate Lambright said that deputies and law enforcement from other agencies are working through the backlog as time permits in between other calls for service that continue to come in. When the outbreak occurred, the jail stopped accepting new arrestees unless they met certain criteria — such as posing an extreme danger to the general public — which led to warrants piling up.
