Ahmedabad: Life and livelihood in the pols of the city is marked by community living. Several analyses on pols emphasise the same point, that the houses are dependent on each other with novel architectural practice.
Interconnectivity distributes and helps from earthquake shocks. A recent project by Saatvika Pancholi as part of a Cept University studio brought into focus the earthquake resilience of pols. The project underlines factors such as wooden parts of the buildings, cross walls, orthogonal connections and height regularity.
