Pondaseta Brewing Company will host a public screening of the documentary "Kid Candidate," which had its world premiere at South By Southwest in March, at 9 p.m. Friday at 7500 SW 45th Ave. According to a news release, the screening comes the same day as the film is released on Apple TV. The doors for the screening will open at 7 p.m. According to previous reports, the film centers around 2019 Place 1 Amarillo City Council candidate Hayden Pedigo after he made a Harmony Korine-inspired campaign video that went viral. The film, directed by Jasmine Stodel, follows Pedigo, an Amarillo native, through the campaign in his hometown, from filing to be on the ballot to campaign rallies and, ultimately, to his defeat to incumbent Elaine Hays. "Kid Candidate" was one of eight world premiere documentaries at South by Southwest in 2021.
