Port Clinton suspends water shutoffs, estimating usage next cycle PORT CLINTON - The immense amount of snowfall and, at times, bitterly cold temperatures over the past few weeks have been impacting local infrastructure in more ways than one. Due to the recent wintry weather, the city of Port Clinton advised its water customers in a notice issued Thursday afternoon that more than half of the meter readings for the next billing cycle would be estimated based on the water usage from the previous month. The notice also asked customers to take the necessary measures to prevent pipes from freezing and to routinely check for leaks as estimated bills do not account for ongoing leaks that may otherwise be detected during normal meter-reading procedures.
