Port Orchard's Bay Street Pedestrian Pathway in right-of-way acquisition process

The city of Port Orchard has secured more money from the Legislature to continue its Bay Street Pedestrian Pathway, and officials say the city is on track to begin construction in time to meet a deadline imposed by federal grants secured for the project.
The city secured $2 million from the Legislature in its recently concluded session to pay for the remainder of the project, which would complete the vision of a 1-mile-long route from the Port Orchard foot ferry to the Annapolis ferry. The city has completed segments of the pathway from the Port Orchard ferry to Westbay Center. The 14-foot-wide paved path will have two 5-foot bike lanes with 2-foot shoulders.
