Port Washington police officers credited with dissuading man from suicide attempt PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Port Washington police say their officers helped a man experiencing a mental health crisis Wednesday, Jan. 27. According to the police department, officers were dispatched to Rotary Park around 3:18 a.m. when a 44-year-old man at the end of the park's observation pier climbed over a railing, threatening to jump into Lake Michigan. Police say the temperature at this time was 10 degrees with a wind chill of -2. After 30 minutes of dialogue, the man climbed back over the railings to the officers and was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
