The current rates policy (2020/21) is under routine review to ensure the City complies with the Municipal Property Rates Act 6 of 2004, which affords the municipality the leeway to levy property rates and tariffs equitably and affordably. This has to happen each year, and ratepayers must be consulted to ensure the policy remains sustainable and legitimate. This year’s virtual citywide consultative process started on Monday, 8 February and is set to run until Friday, 26 February.
