The response by the island’s poultry producers to the government’s call to ramp up production to meet local demands during COVID-19 has resulted in the production of chicken meat far exceeding pre-pandemic levels. In fact, since the month of November the island’s poultry farmers have been producing up to three million kgs per week, or 20 per cent above the corresponding period last year.
