At the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, President Yoweri Museveni was on the political frontline; he was the take-charge leader at that critical moment, who advised citizens about all the extra safety precautions to be taken to slow the spread of the highly infectious disease.
He imposed a phased lockdown on businesses and non-essential government agencies. A night curfew (7pm to 6:30pm) was imposed too. Later it was reduced to start at 9pm. The president also gave weekly live televised updates on the fight against the disease.
