December 30, 2020 New restrictions on gatherings appear to have been the final nail in the proverbial coffin for some promoters who have already started cancelling their New Year’s Eve events. Chairman of the Entertainers Association of Barbados (EAB) Rodney Maloney told Barbados TODAY on Tuesday, hours after the announcement of a new “limited” COVID-19 Directive, that numerous promoters had described the new restrictions as making it impossible for them to break even. Attorney General Dale Marshall on Monday evening announced that between December 30, 2020 and January 6, 2021, persons desirous of hosting events with more than 150 patrons would now have to seek special permission from the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit. While those given prior permission for up to 250 patrons would be allowed to proceed, all others would be determined on a case-by-case basis.
