The organizer of an illegal gathering at Bellevue Park is facing charges under the Reopening Ontario Act. In a press release issued this afternoon, Sault Police say officers attended the May 22 gathering to ensure "it remained peaceful and to investigate the gathering." Police say they identified one person, from Springwater Township, Ont., as having organized the event, and the individual was charged. While on the scene of Saturday's event, officers say they attempted to charge two other attendees under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA). They refused, and will be receiving a summons in regards to the charge, police say.
