CHAGAI: Balochistan’s Minister for Communications and Works Mir Mohammad Arif Mohammad Hasni has accused some officials of Pakistan Customs in Chagai district of taking bribes from the public by misusing their powers. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Mr Hasni alleged that he had received several complaints by local residents and transporters that some Customs officials posted on the RCD Highway in Dalbandin and Nokundi were compelling transporters to pay thousands of rupees in bribes for so-called “clearance”. “People who travel on Taftan-Quetta RCD Highway are stopped at Customs checkpoints for hours. Cases are being lodged against those who do not pay bribes.”
