A 25-year-old West Nipissing resident has been charged following a call from the public. Nipissing West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a traffic stop Sunday at 1:08 p.m. on Pembroke Street in Sturgeon Falls after a complaint of a possible impaired driver. Officers located the vehicle and determined the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay Police Service for further testing. The driver was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg. The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice July 8 in West Nipissing.
