Rabbani asks govt to accept Myanmar’s National Unity rule Top Story June 5, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Former Senate Chairman Senator Mian Raza Rabbani asked the Federal Government to recognize the shadow government of Myanmar, “Government of National Unity”, which has been formed as a consequence of the turmoil in the country since the military overthrew the democratic government of the National League for Democracy. “The brutal crackdown on the people of Myanmar is taking place at the hands of the military, as they are struggling for democracy, Constitution and rule of law,” he said in a statement on Friday. Senator Mian Raza Rabbani said it is a welcome step that the National League for Democracy has realized its past mistake in dealing with the Rohingya minority community. He said it will be prudent on the part of the Rohingyan community to accept the offer of the National League for democracy and join the democratic struggle with an assurance that the Rohingyan refugees will be repatriated in a democratic Myanmar.
