Here's a look at this week's local happenings and announcements: Junior Sheriff's Academy From Monday, July 19 to July 23, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office will have its second week of the Junior Sheriff's Academy. Teenagers 13 to 15 interested in law enforcement, fire, and EMS were encouraged to register. Captain Brian Arrington, head of the camp, said the program ran for a few years just for male students who were court-ordered. Then, under a new sheriff, the program was changed to a recruiting-style camp for teens interested in law enforcement. The department has continued the recruiting theme throughout the changes of the office.
