The Raspberry Pi Foundation today announced a small and super affordable microcontroller companion to its Raspberry Pi modules. And by affordable, we mean the thing costs just four bucks. That is about the price of a grande Caffe Mocha at Starbucks. Part of what makes the new Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller such a delicious proposition, though, is not just its low price, but what it can do. Paired up with a Raspberry Pi module, the microcontroller can offload certain tasks at a fraction of the power consumption of even the lowest power mode of a Raspberry Pi Zero.
