RCAS keeps mask mandate in 5-2 vote May 11, 2021 RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid City Area Schools Board of Education is keeping the mask mandate for now. In a 5-2 vote Monday, the Board of Education voted to keep the current mask mandate in place for the remainder of the school year. In an email to parents, RCAS said 40% of staff still support a mandate, while 60% would like to see it go away. The margin was even wider among parents, with 32% supporting the mandate and 68% saying they want it lifted.
