Howard Alexander Image Credit: TWITTER/BC Wildfire Service July 12, 2021 - 4:35 PM Helicopters and air tankers supporting firefighters on the ground in the battle against the Becker Lake wildfire near Vernon had to be suspended over the weekend due to a flying in the area. A large drone was spotted by firefighters above the Becker Lake wildfire on Saturday, June 10 at around 4:30 p.m., according to an RCMP media release. Air operations were suspended for roughly an hour until it was safe for them to resume. The restricted airspace around a wildfire is five nautical miles to an altitude of 3,000 feet above ground level.
