Adver readers have mixed views on whether or not to continue wearing a facemask on July 19. In a poll on our website yesterday, 51 per cent said ending the rule was too early, with 44 per cent agreeing with Boris Johnson's stance and the remaining 5 per cent not sure. The prime minister has gambled on trusting the public’s judgment and the protection offered by vaccines as he scrapped mandatory mask-wearing and lifted social distancing requirements. The debate raged on the Adver's Facebook page when we asked whether readers would still be wearing a face covering in a fortnight's time. Hilary Brooks said: “Yes. The medical profession say it’s ludicrous to stop wearing face masks at present. I know who’d I’d rather trust.
