ONE of Bournemouth's best-loved tea rooms is undergoing major refurbishment work. Tuckton Tea Gardens, which sits alongside the River Stour, is being extended to allow for more indoor and outdoor seating. Building work is under way and owners Bournemouth Boating Services Ltd hope it will open for takeaway in April and for indoor dining in May. The company runs the tea gardens as well as the headland ferry service from Tuckton to Mudeford beach, self-drive motor boats and the Wick ferry, situated outside the Captain's Club in Christchurch. Generations of families have visited the tea garden since it opened in the early 1900s. It is a popular after-school meeting place.
