The State Attorney General’s Office has asked an appeals court to reconsider a ruling which would allow Travis Archer, who killed Ponce the dog, to own animals again, according to a press release. In a split decision released Dec. 18, the 5th District Court of Appeal in Daytona Beach struck down a ruling by Circuit Judge Sandra Upchurch prohibiting Archer from ever owning animals again. The Attorney General's Office, which handles appeals of such cases, filed a motion on Tuesday asking the 5th District Court of Appeal for a rehearing on the issue. The Appeals Court could agree to rehear the matter or deny the request.
