Northfield-based Medline Industries Inc. is exploring a sale, according to the several media reports. The medical-supply company could be valued as much as $30 billion and has hired Goldman Sachs Group Inc. to run the process, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.
Representatives from Medline did not respond to a request for comment on the reports. Medline's facility in Waukegan has come under public scrutiny over its use of the cancer-causing gas ethylene oxide, which company officials have said they use to sterilize medical equipment and N95 face masks. Tea Tanaka of Stop ETO in Lake County issued a statement on behalf of the community group.
