Report of secret Sulu plot to invade Sabah untrue, says police chief | Daily Express Online

Sabah police have dismissed as untrue a news report that said a secret plot was hatched for Sulu militants to invade Sabah which echoed the 2013 bloody incursion of Lahad Datu.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Idris Abdullah was responding to a report by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) that said a locally elected Sulu official gathered 19 mayors in the Sulu archipelago in a Dec 1 meeting to set up a “Royal Sulu Army” with a target of recruiting up to 600 men to invade Sabah.

"The news report is not true, nevertheless, we are always enhancing maritime security," Idris told the Daily Express today.

Idris's comment echoed a statement by a Philippine military official
