MANILA - The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Monday warned people living in areas that might be affected by Tropical Depression Florita to take all the necessary precautions. The agency issued this warning shortly after a meeting with various NDRRMC members regarding actions to take on the possible onslaught of "Florita," which is expected to pummel Northern Luzon this week. "Pinapayuhan na maging mapagmatiyag, listo at maingat ang mga residenteng nakatira sa mga apektadong lugar sa banta ng pagbaha, pagguho ng lupa, at sa panganib ng malakas na hangin na dala ng bagyo (All residents living in affected areas are advised to be mindful, alert, and take the proper precautions against flooding, landslides and other threats caused by strong winds of the tropical depression)," it added. Also, the NDRRMC said that it has already coordinated and communicated with the different regional DRRM councils, government agencies, and local government units on the possible impact and dangers that may be brought by 'Florita". It also reminded the public to always be on alert for weather updates and advisories coming from pertinent agencies regarding the tropical depression. Meanwhile,Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles also reminded the public to be vigilant amid rains, floods, landslides and other threats caused by "Florita". "Mga kababayan, maging alerto at mag-ingat po tayo dahil sa bagyong TD #FloritaPH na dadaan sa hilagang Luzon. Stay safe, mga kababayan (My countrymen, let's be alert and careful because typhoon TD #FloritaPH will pass through Northern Luzon. Stay safe, fellow countrymen)," she said in her official Facebook page. "Florita" continues to have maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 70 kilometers per hour. Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has been raised over Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and the northern portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao).
