JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) - Dozens of rental homes and town houses could be built off Maybank Highway on Johns Island.
On Wednesday, the city of Charleston’s planning commission approved a rezoning request to change properties marked as single-family residential to diverse residential which allows for multi-family housing to be built.
The new zoning would allow a maximum of 207 units to be built which is less than what the single-family residential zoning allowed.
