The included photograph is a duplication of a hand-coloured post card from my collection which contains more than 100 cards, mostly dating between 1906 and 1930.
The photo is circa 1910 and depicts the old town hall at the north end of the Market Square in Chatham.

The structure, costing $6,000 in 1856, was the most expensive Chatham municipal building ever erected to that time.
The town hall came into being after Chatham gained a slight sum of independence from Kent County. it being the first of the town’s steps towards municipal independence.
