The discussions between Alton and the federal government in hopes of getting federal reimbursement to help fix the wall and road at Riverview Drive continue. The city still hopes FEMA will cover a portion of the cost to fix the wall and the surrounding area, saying it was extreme rains that caused the issues. Alton Public Works Director Bob Barnhart tells The Big Z for those that say the FEMA process is slow, he agrees. Click here for Barnhart's comments He says the area is still closed to the public but is being monitored for any changes to its stability. If FEMA does not come through, Barnhart says the city has some other options is can pursue to repair the area.
