ROCKFORD — When the pandemic hit, Crusader Community Health debated postponing the opening of its new facility. But on Monday the health center hosted its ribbon-cutting ceremony as it originally planned. Located at 1200 W. State St., the new 48,000-square-foot facility opened Monday and will provide medical, dental and behavioral health care services to its current and future patients. The new facility will replace the 92-year-old former school it had occupied on the property where it started 47 years ago. The $16 million facility began construction in October 2019 and continued throughout the pandemic after Crusader Community Health President and CEO Samuel Miller and other administrators opted not to halt the project.
