'Project Mango,' incentive package gains near unanimous support

City Commissioner Jack Porter was the only IA member to vote against the measure in an 11-1 vote.
Those in support said it was a step toward attracting large private industries to Tallahassee to create jobs and support growth.
“This is a crucial vote that will truly show the world the Tallahassee we want to become,” said Mayor John Dailey. “Are we going to be open for business? Are we truly going to create jobs and add jobs to our local economy or are we going to be stagnant?”
While there's much speculation on the identity of Project Mango – with many suggesting it could be an Amazon packaging center based on the description as a "fulfillment center” – the company is requesting confidentiality during the negotiations period, as permitted by state law.
