They were close friends whose plans to simply "hang out" came to an abrupt end during a traffic stop in a Cocoa neighborhood.
It was Nov. 13, 2020, and within days, the names of the two boys, Angelo "A.J." Crooms and Sincere Pierce, would appear in news outlets across the nation as victims of a fatal police shooting by a Brevard County sheriff's deputy who mistakenly thought they were driving a stolen car.
