To many people who witnessed this it appeared to be an abduction nikki stone was wanted for vandalization and destruction of Police Cameras at city hall but the method of her arrest have many worried about Police Practices during the. Ongoing protest so joining us to band on the topic retired Metro Police Detective ron hampton ways and ron good to see you you were a cop on the ground here locally for a long time stone was wanted for vandalization did that warrant this sort of reaction. I dont think it was but you know some of this behavior app of the is in retaliation to the defun conversation thats taken place in our communities as well as with some of the politicians and the country and you know that to define issue is on the on the table in new york city along with some of the other issues that they look at not only how the Police Department operates but how effective it is in doing what it is that it does yeah i mean a lot of people obviously witnessed that i dont know if its meant to scare the other protesters perhaps i mean you spent a long time at metro p. D. Is that you know i kept at that cop you. No no no it it isnt it when you if youre going to make an arrest or you have a warrant then you said the war on the person you can serve it to him on the street you can serve it to them when theyre at their home but to do what we witness in the tape thats kind of unusual i dont understand that but again 1 theres some strange things that are happening because the police are responding to all of this call thats coming about what it is that they do so that is. Thats very unusual when it in terms of what they what they did with that person very unusual yeah how about we go over to Portland Oregon where the trumpet ministration has come under a lot of fire for sending out unmarked federal authorities to as they say protect courthouses and other federal property do you think. That there where presence there does not increase tension and animosity at those locations or does it to that quell the chaos. Well i believe it does and the evidence shows that the other does as sick of it has been to increase the bounden center and the protests as it relates to what it is just going oh just to see magine if you take barricades and put them all up in a rail if the government builds and thats the poles are that theyre there to protect then whether theyre protecting because the barricades at sensing the jersey walls day up and so you cant get to the building you cant get to be on the show and in a way that their behavior is definitely increasing their value thats important and other places where they are as well thats what they might be yeah now ron i want to bring in another voice another friend of the show former u. Marshal matthew fogg is joining us to weigh in on all of this happening across the country matthew bigger scale we were just talking about federal authorities showing up to Portland Oregon tip to protect federal buildings most closely courthouses do you think that their presence there helped quell the protests or do you think it caused a lot more people to be tense and cause more havoc. Well my mandate u. S. Marshals and thats what i am you know thats my form of job thats what our job is to check federal courthouse federal bureau and so they have a right to be there the bottom line is if there are expanding their authority to try to go out and do stuff within their communities no they dont have the authority to go after civil types of things in the community basically thats up to the local police the problems they have that so they can protect that courthouse so that that that is the piece that i have to say they can do that piece now. They are using Excessive Force all the day on the altar the same type of training and requirements that we all under you dont use Excessive Force or throughout its top down situations you try to just use there for protection so if people are trying to burn the courthouse will do anything like that they have every right to be this ok and what about their role as being on mark and and civilians are reporting that these unmarked authorities are how they would describe it as kidnapping protestors i would say they are there apprehending them or arrest them but the people on the ground are calling this kidnapping by federal you know weve heard the phrase stormtroopers what do you think of that well as again now i see these are actual federal for you people that are doing this no they dont i dont see what it could be its already from the route just simply going to grab people and kidnap them now of course if we got information that somebody got a federal warrant out about something that nature that makes it a federal crime then we can deal with that but if they dont have. If they dont i dont other than that i dont see any reason why they would need to. Extend it for you there perimeter and go out to iran. Ok gotcha so the presence of u. S. Marshals on the ground there they could apprehend somebody if say that person had a federal warrant for or really never. Go go ahead ron yeah any clever problem or. Yes they do but i think what i think what received no is is raising the question of their behavior. Other thing is that this whole idea of them not having name tags on not having them that they have done a for information about who we are where they come from it raises the question of accountability to and and why has it done in secrecy if there have been Law Enforcement people so that they have real countability and of and then that ability is going to fall back on the court and Police Department because theyre dead in in in in place of the political beast a common in the system now so it just raises a lot of issues i think in terms of local control and their behavior just needs a lot to be desired when we Start Talking about for example how they surely did that navy veteran really he was just asking the question clearly that was Excessive Force gotcha ron sticking with you because you were a cop. Police departments across the country are coming under scrutiny for these heavy handed tactics as it is doesnt this case in new york city this video that surfaced doesnt match prove the point. That i think it does and you would think you know i often have this conversation with some of my colleagues you would think that in terms of the National Pressure that being put on Police Departments about their behavior as a result of what we have captioned they dont care imber like the instance in new york were seeing this on camera and and their cameras are lining up a matter of fact leaving court a young lady with her camera out at me you would think that the police would be conscious that theyre going to be constantly under surveillance yeah and people to stay in a tent to do their behavior that they would be much better at what it is that they want. To do but it just shows barack is out of control now that we have raised another people raising about accountability transparency in the liability that theyre actually bringing on this is in the city yeah matthew what about that i mean doesnt this prove the point of exactly why all these protests are happening that theyre complaining that that cops are way too rough and they crossed the line. Well its you know happening all along i mean this is been an issue that weve been raising its just that the fact that the cameras it gets you know if everybodys seen the videotape but this may go on and law know that we dealt with this stuff over decades of dyspepsia how they would feel in minority communities a lot of times so now its just all is now its willy nilly its its out in open its you know we can grab in and go out to people in life and as law said if youve got some uniform on you dont have some identifying marks on that right there says that youve got a free disposed notion to do certain things that you dont want nobody to know who you are and what you do and so all of this goes towards the whole culture that were talking about this culture sort of indifference the culture thats out of control and that were seeing more of it happen in and in the bottom line is ive even had people call me up folks who had been on the street inform 7 film and say fox say the balance is going on in the neighborhood because the police are slowing down the police not even doing their jobs so we find a lot of something happening in the neighborhood because they want to step to happen because police right now to pretty upset with the fact that theyre they call themselves getting a black eye but its a black god as they put their themselves its just that the stuff is being exposed now.
