KOTA KINABALU: Police are investigating a viral message that mocks a compound notice issued to an individual for crossing districts during the movement control order. Penampang district police chief Deputy Supt Mohd Haris Ibrahim said they considered the message to be an attempt to shame a senior officer. "The message spread through WhatsApp humiliated a senior Penampang police officer carrying out enforcement duties on standard operating procedures," he said in a statement on Sunday (June 27). He said the message mocked a policeman who issued a RM5,000 compound notice. DSP Mohd Haris said the message was related to an incident where a senior police officer issued the compound notice against an individual who travelled between districts without permission.
