A police colonel previously dismissed from work and charged by police for helping former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra flee from Thailand shortly before she faced a court ruling in the rice-pledging scandal in 2017 has been quietly reinstated for more than a year now, according to a source.
Chairit: Dismissed in October 2017
The reinstatement of Pol Col Chairit Anurit, a former deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau's (MPB) Division 5, possibly came after the public prosecutor resolved not to indict him despite a recommendation by Pathumwan police to indict him and three other suspects on charges of dereliction of duty, assisting a criminal suspect to escape and document falsifying, the source said.
