CLINTON — Two emergency services facilities being built in Sampson County will replace a building that often floods during storms, county officials said. The new $18.4 million facilities being constructed on 9.5 acres of land will be the home for all the county's telecommunications and emergency services operations. The 911 Communications facility will be the hub for the county's telecommunications services, and the Emergency Services facility will house the paramedics, emergency management, Fire Marshals, and the 911 addressing staff. On Friday, the Sampson County Board of Commissioners held a groundbreaking ceremony attended by state legislators and community members to celebrate the long-awaited building. "We're finally addressing a much-needed project," said Susan Holder, assistant county manager. "The facility that we're building is, at this point, not a want but a need."
