Joshua Roy Tucker’s psychosis started with voices in an attic, and ended with him fatally shooting a man who he said he believed was a kidnapper impersonating his adoptive father.
Tucker said he shot 59-year-old Gordon Ernest Tucker on their farm near Cochin because he thought his son — Gordon’s grandson — was in danger.

The 29-year-old pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, arguing he was suffering from a mental disorder at the time that rendered him not criminally responsible. He testified at his Battleford Court of Queen’s Bench trial that he thought he was shooting an impostor, not his actual father.
