The crescent moon signaling the advent of the month of Shawwal was not sighted in Saudi Arabia on Monday, making Wednesday the first day of Eid al-Fitr, announced the Kingdom’s Supreme Court. The court had on Saturday called on Muslims across the Kingdom to sight the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal on Monday evening. It said whoever sights the crescent moon with the naked eye or through binoculars must report to the nearest court and register their testimony. The sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon marks the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
