Savannah-Chatham County Schools nurses ready to help with vaccines, STAT

Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools employees can look forward to receiving their first COVID vaccine starting next week, if they want it. The first opportunity for district staff vaccinations will be on March 9.
"We are looking forward to announcing additional venues and opportunities for our staff. As you know, we have our initial place set up for March 9," said Ann Levett, district superintendent, at the school board meeting Wednesday. "That information will be shared with our staff, and they will have the opportunity to register." She added that this initial vaccine event will have 500 doses available.
The board discussed the possibility of school sites staggering their employees' vaccine appointments in case some staff members have adverse reactions that might cause them to miss a day or two of work. That concern was addressed by Kurt Hetager, the district chief public affairs and administrative services officer.
