Scheduled Castes post-matric scholarship plan explained : vi

The Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC students is aimed at enabling students to pursue any course from class 11, with the cost of education funded by the government.

Key Highlights
The scheme will be run on an online platform with robust cyber security measures that would assure transparency, accountability, efficiency, and quick disbursal of the assistance.
Ensuring the fool-proof verification of the eligibility, caste status, Aadhaar identification and bank account details on the online portal will be the state's responsibility.
The Union Cabinet (Committee on Economic Affairs), on December 23, approved changes to the post-matric scholarship scheme for students from the Scheduled Castes, including new funding pattern. The aim is to enable four crore students to access higher education over the next five years. Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawarchand Gehlot held a press conference to explain the changes.
