Schools, along with many organisations around the world, are reporting a rise in the volume and severity of online threats since the Covid-19 pandemic
Schools are blocking more websites to try to keep students safe, as cyber attacks and attempts to access harmful content increase after Covid-19 lockdown.
A report published on Thursday by Network for Learning, the company that provides internet services to all state and state-integrated schools, highlighted a steep rise in online threats targeting schools.
The second school term, from April 15 to July 3, included 22 weekdays of lockdown. Despite that, cyber security threats were up 14 per cent on Term 1 and the number of websites blocked increased by 15 per cent in primary schools and by 40 per cent in secondary schools.
