Sky News can reveal Prime Minister Scott Morrison was thwarted by the National Party in his last cabinet reshuffle where he attempted to give a portfolio called "National Resilience" to former Defence Minister Linda Reynolds.
Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell said the Nationals “resisted when Morrison attempted to strip National Resilience out of the portfolio held by Deputy Nationals leader David Littleproud, who was and remains the Minister for Drought and Emergency Management”.
“As we reported here on Sunday Agenda just before the March reshuffle, Scott Morrison's original plan was to create this new portfolio for Reynolds to deal with the recovery after various disasters,” Mr Clennell said.
