Public Health’s territory also takes in Espanola, Manitoulin Island and the District of Sudbury. All the new infections occurred as a result of close contact with a confirmed case, the health unit said. All the cases appear attributed to a variant of concern. To date, 858 people in the Sudbury area have screened positive for variants of concern, which spread more quickly and easily, and are more deadly.
