(AFP) NEW DELHI: Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana extended their ongoing lockdowns till May 17 to curb the unprecedented surge of Covid-19 cases and deaths. Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Puducherry will also have a two-week shutdown starting Monday, while in Karnataka's stringent lockdown will come into effect on Monday till May 24. On Saturday, Kerala came under a nine-day complete lockdown. This means that from Monday, a majority of the country will be under either a strict lockdown or lockdown-like curbs. Meanwhile, Covid cases continue to soar as India reported over 4 lakh fresh infections on Sunday for the fourth consecutive day. The fatalities continued to stay above 4,000.
