Severe thunderstorm warning for Waynesboro and parts of Augusta County View Comments The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Southeastern Augusta County and the City of Waynesboro until 3:15 p.m. At 2:31 p.m. a severe thunderstorm was located near Vesuvius, or 11 miles east of Rockbridge Baths, moving northeast at 25 mph. The storm contained wind gusts of 60 miles per hour and quarter size hail. The National Weather Service said that damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible.
