SANTA FE – The city will be assuming a lot more responsibility for the development of the Midtown campus than it originally hoped.
Officials told city councilors Wednesday that the city would no longer seek a new master developer for the Midtown project and cancel the Request for Expression Interest process the city had launched to find one.
Economic Development Director Rich Brown issued a memo detailing why he decided to cancel the RFEI and the next steps for the city in preparing the campus for development.

“We’re taking back control of our own Midtown destiny, and will move to implement a series of initiatives to move the overall project forward,” Brown wrote.
