Laura Shadle won the Democratic nomination for jury commissioner in Tuesday’s primary election, in what was the only contested countywide race on the ballot. Shadle, a Bellefonte resident who has held the position since being appointed to fill a vacancy last year, garnered 8,518 votes to Shelley Miller’s 1,712. Two jury commissioners — one Democrat and one Republican — are elected to four year terms to administer the criminal and civil jury selection process. Both are up for election this year. Incumbent Hope Miller ran unopposed on the Republican ballot and is now set to serve a fourth term as jury commissioner. She received 10,619 votes.
