Kalamazoo County Jail (photo by John McNeil) KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller says after a thorough investigation, they’ve determined a county jail inmate found dead last December 17 committed suicide. According to a release from the sheriff Friday, a Kalamazoo County Sheriffâs Department deputy making her regular rounds that day discovered an unresponsive inmate in a cell in the medical/mental health wing of the Kalamazoo County Jail. The deputy immediately called for help and initiated life-saving measures to revive the individual, to no avail. 29 year-old Chase David Dalton Lovell of Galesburg had been arraigned in Kalamazoo County District Court December 16 on a charge of first-degree arson for a fire in the psychiatric unit of Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
