Sturgis Journal Police are searching for the suspect in a shooting that occurred late Wednesday in Constantine. The shooting took place at the Constantine Little League fields, near Meadow Lane, where a 38-year-old Cassopolis man was shot multiple times. Constantine police arrived at the scene shortly after 8 p.m. and found the man conscious and alert. He was treated by first-responders then airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind., where he underwent surgery. As of 6:30 a.m. Thursday, his condition was not known. The major crimes task force was enacted to help with the investigation. Officials said a couple of games had ended or were close to concluding at the time of the shooting, and many players and spectators were still at the field. A junior varsity baseball game also was being played at the time of the shooting at the high school, a few blocks away. That area immediately went into lockdown as a result of the shooting and the team was cleared to leave just after 8:30 p.m.
